    2. Open Door: Accessibility in the Future

Open Door was a project done as part of a course at Cornish College of the Arts. The goal was to create an optimistic product “of the future” without the limitations of current technology.

Open Door is a cane that also acts a tool to help it’s user open doors. It does so by wedging it’s base into a hinged door and pulling open heavy doors for those who struggle to open doors independently. The design was focused around giving the user autonomy and thus wasn’t intended to rely on external technology to function.

I produced concept illustrations and 3D models in Blender showcasing what different modes and textures might look like for a mobility aid of this type. Both models are available to view on Sketchfab: active mode cane mode.
